Ann Summers Promises Vibrator Review

The Ann Summer’s Promises was my first ever sex toy. Steve surprised me with it not long after we became a couple and was a great introduction to sex toys.

Design / Shape / Size

The Promises is a pink and glittery penis shaped dildo with a slightly wider base, although it is a girly looking toy, the detail is still quite realistic. The Promises is moderately flexible and has a curved shaft which is designed to hit the g-spot, we wouldn’t suggest bending this toy too much as it manage damage the inner workings.

The Promises has a glittery look to it but thankfully the glitter does not come off and end up all over you. The battery compartment can be found by unscrewing the cap at the bottom of the toy and has space for 2 AA batteries. The tip of the Promises is quite slim and tapers gradually to the max circumference of the toy. We were drawn to the Promises due to it’s slim physique as being my first ever toy I didn’t want anything too large.

Located at the base of the toy, in the same area as the battery compartment, is where you control the toy, just twist the base to switch it on and twist even more to speed up the vibrations. The Promises is a quiet toy, even on the highest vibration setting. We have found however when lowering the vibrations we can accidentally unscrew the base which can become a pain.

There is quite a lot of detail to this vibrator, if it wasn’t pink and sparkly it would probably look quite realistic thanks to it’s detailed penis head and not over the top veins on the shaft. The veins are slightly pronounced but we would doubt anyone would feel these veins in use so that part of the vibrator is cosmetic.

Functions / Controls

At the base of the Promises there is a twist control vibration knob. The vibrations start very low and it would surprise us if anyone found the lowest setting very pleasurable, the vibrations go quite powerful and rumbly for a AA powered vibrator. The vibrator is housed in the centre of the shaft but the vibrations travel all the way to the tip very well with no much vibration strength loss between the two points.

The Promises Vibrator isn’t particularly loud for a standard battery powered vibrator, Rox could easily use the vibrator without me hearing unless I’m in the same room or just outside the door.

Experience

As this was my first ever toy I wasn’t sure what to expect or if I would even like any type of sex toy. Thanks to a bit of water based lube inserting the vibrator is very easy even though it it was my first ever vibrator. I never experience any discomfort inserting it mainly thanks to the slim tip.

The curved shaft is designed to hit the g-spot but it has never managed to hit mine. I think the shaft on the Promises is not curved enough and maybe a little too flexible to hit mine.

The vibrations feel really strong and the girth of the Promises was perfect for my first introduction into sex toys. It has given me countless orgasms since Steve surprised me with this toy. We still use this toy on occasion after years of use which is no small feat as many toys after this has either been broken or thrown away.

I don’t feel the veins on the shaft of the Promises as they are not pronounced enough for me to feel them. The twist controller is very easy to use and allows me to control the vibrations very well but I usually like to have it on full power most of the time anyway.

Overall Opinion

The Ann Summers Promises Vibrator was a great first toy for me as it is slim, powerful and started a probably unhealthy addition to sex toys. I have moved on to bigger and better things over the years but the Promises started it all and I will never forget it because of that.
