Lovers Massage Book Review

We are big fans of massages and regularly give massages to each other after long hard days writing about sex toys (hard work you see). The Lovers’ Massage book written by Darrin Zeer is a book created to help couples learn about how to give soothing, relaxing and also romantic massages for your loved one. This book was a lovely wedding gift from Lovehoney (thanks guys).

The Book

The book is split into very well thought out categories from preparation to the types of massages you can give. We are very impressed that the book also has an index for types of aches you may have. So for example if you have lower back pain (Steve’s main issue) then it shows you which massages are best to relieve that pain.

The Lovers’ Massage Book is hardbacked which for its purpose is definitely the better option compared to soft. This is because having oily hands could spoil the cover on soft backed books. The pages inside the book are unfortunately not laminated in any sense so they could be spoiled if you are not too careful.

The book is A5 sized which we feel is the perfect size for this type of book. An A4 book would be too cumbersome and A5 fits very nicely on a bedside cabinet for light reading before sleep.

We hate it when books close themselves when we want it left open (cook books usually). Thankfully the Lovers’ Massage book usually stays open on the page we want except for the first 15-20 pages or so. Having a book stay open on a specific massage page for quick check up on method is very important so this book fairs reasonably well.

The Massages

For every massage there’s a large full-page graphic showing the positioning required to do the massage. These graphics are very well drawn (by Amy Saidens) and shows how to do the massage in a helpful way, without these drawings we would have most likely struggled.

The written part on how to do each massage is well written and bullet pointed which makes it easy to follow and understand. It’s shows you step by step on how to do the massage. We haven’t come across a single massage in this book we haven’t understood how to do.

The massages inside the book are varied and mostly relaxing and comfortable for the receiver. There are some massages in the book that are a bit too uncomfortable to get into position. Sometimes the giver has the bad end of the stick and they are in an awkward position which makes them need a massage afterwards.

There are a good amount of massages inside and we have enjoyed most of them. In the past we have used the internet for massage ideas and tips but this handy little book usually does a better job in explaining the method and is also easily accessible on a bedside cabinet.

“I really like this handy little book and regularly turn to it before I give Steve a massage. I like how I can quickly find good massages for lower back pain as Steve regularly suffers from it. I would have prefered to have a few more relaxing and comfortable massages inside the book however.”

“I also like this book as I much prefer to have a book to read compared to reading on a monitor. Being a book allows me to follow the methods easier somehow and also very handy to pick up when relaxing in bed before the lights go out. I’m very happy to see the book is hardbacked but would’ve liked the book to stay open on a chosen page better.”

Overall Opinion

Overall we like the Lovers’ Massage Book and would recommend it to couples who are looking to increase their knowledge in giving massages. We would have liked the pages to be more oily hand friendly but doing this would no doubt increase the low selling price.

We would have liked to have a few more relaxing and easier on the body type massages inside. What we like most about this book is we can easily find out which type of massages are good for specific body aches.
